The Monstera Thai Constellation is one of the most sought-after and stunning variegated plants in the world! This rare beauty features creamy-white to yellow variegation that resembles a starry constellation splashed across its iconic split leaves. Unlike many variegated plants that occur randomly in nature, the Thai Constellation is a stable, tissue-cultured variety, meaning every leaf will display beautiful variegation.
This medium-sized plant is perfect for collectors and plant enthusiasts who want to own this coveted variety at an affordable price. The Thai Constellation combines the classic Monstera deliciosa growth habit with spectacular variegation that makes it a true showstopper!
Light: Bright, indirect light is essential for maintaining the beautiful variegation. The white/cream portions contain no chlorophyll and need adequate light to support the plant's growth. Avoid direct sunlight which can scorch the variegated areas. East or west-facing windows with filtered light are ideal.
Water: Water when the top 3-5 cm of soil feels dry to the touch. The variegated portions make this plant slightly more sensitive to overwatering than regular Monsteras. Ensure excellent drainage and never let the plant sit in water. Reduce watering in winter when growth slows.
Humidity: High humidity (60-80%) is crucial for healthy growth and preventing brown edges on the variegated portions. Increase humidity by using a humidifier, placing on a pebble tray, grouping plants together, or misting regularly. The white/cream areas are more prone to browning in low humidity.
Temperature: Prefers warm temperatures between 18-27°C. Protect from cold drafts and temperatures below 15°C. Variegated plants are more sensitive to temperature stress, so maintain consistent conditions.
Soil: Use well-draining, chunky aroid mix. A blend of potting soil, perlite, orchid bark, and peat moss works perfectly. Excellent drainage is critical for variegated Monsteras.
Fertilizer: Feed every 2-3 weeks during the growing season (spring and summer) with a balanced liquid fertilizer diluted to half strength. Proper nutrition is important as the variegated portions can't photosynthesize. Reduce feeding in fall and winter.
Support: Provide a sturdy moss pole or trellis for climbing. As the plant climbs, leaves will grow larger and develop more dramatic fenestrations and variegation. Support is essential for this variety.
Pruning: Minimal pruning needed. Remove any fully green reverted leaves immediately to maintain variegation. Use clean, sharp scissors and cut just above a node.
The stunning variegation requires special attention:
Propagate by stem cuttings with at least one node and aerial root. Place in water or moist sphagnum moss until roots develop (3-4 weeks). Once roots are 7-10 cm long, pot in aroid mix. Note: Highly variegated cuttings may root slower and require more care.
Important: Monstera Thai Constellation is toxic to pets and humans if ingested. Contains calcium oxalate crystals that can cause irritation and swelling. Keep out of reach of children and pets.
Own this coveted beauty at an affordable price! The Monstera Thai Constellation is a stunning investment piece that will be the crown jewel of your plant collection!
